Grant helps tight school budget

July 9, 2011
Daily Press

This week's bouquets go to:

From Karen Hubert, parent at the Gladstone Schools:

"A hugh thank you to the Hannahville Indian Community for the 2 percent grant which was awarded to the Gladstone Middle School and Junior High. The grant was awarded for the 2010-11 school year, and was used to purchase new text books for several classes in grades 6-8. Thank you for your continued support for the education in the surrounding communities."

From VBS directors at Grace Church in Gladstone:

"Thank you to the many many people who helped us collect $732 to send to Samaritan's Purse in Joplin, Missouri, to help with their clean up from the deadly tornado on May 23 this year. Children in our VBS at Grace Church from June 13 through 16 collected this money as our mission project. Everything helps, as the cleanup and rebuilding continues. We sent them a large map of the U.P. of Michigan too, so they would know where we are. For videos and more information go to www.fpbc.net. God bless you for your help."

Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.

We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.

Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they've done. Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.

They may also be sent to us by going to our Web site, www.dailypress.net, and clicking on the Virtual Newsroom button. Once there, click on "Bouquets" and follow the simple instructions.
