Viaus celebrate 50th anniversary

ESCANABA - Donald Viau married the former Christa Schlicher 50 years ago on June 3, 1961, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schaffer.

Standing as best man for his brother was Kenneth Viau. Maid of honor and sister to the groom was Maryann (Viau) Sharkey. Also attending the couple during the ceremony were William Viau, Nancy Viau, Bob Sendenburgh, and Judy (Nelson) Koy.

Donald was employed at Mead Paper in Escanaba for 26 years. Christa was employed at several local banks and ended her career at Heynssins & Selins. They both retired in 1994 and spend time gardening and traveling.

The couple have two sons, Gregory (Roberta) Viau and Thomas (Theresa) Viau, and four grandchildren, Evan, Monique, Sara, and Katelyn. They also enjoy four grand-puppies, Bella, Wiggles, Snowy, and Pandi.

The Viaus are members of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. They make their home in Escanaba during the summer, and Bullhead City, Ariz. in the winter.
