Arts Center showcases talent

June 4, 2011
Daily Press

This week's bouquets go to:

From Valarie Norman of Escanaba:

"I want to thank the Bay Area Art Association Board for giving all our local artists an opportunity to display their artwork at the Bonifas. The annual exhibit is a wonderful opportunity for family, friends, and the community as a whole to view local artwork and experience the talents of our local artists. Personally, I find the experience of having my artwork in the local exhibit strikingly encouraging and inspiring for myself, a nonprofessional artist, to advance my artwork. Hats off to the board for all their work in putting together such a great exhibit."

From the Tri County Thunder softball teams:

"The Tri County Thunder 10U and 12U girls fastpitch softball teams would like to send a huge thank you bouquet to Hilltop RV. Hilltop RV so generously allowed our teams to work their concession stands at two of their RV shows this past winter, plus gave us a monetary donation. Thank you - it is greatly appreciated."

From Escanaba High School science teacher Jim Hansen:

"A huge thank you to Bud DeYoung and everyone at the DeYoung Family Zoo. You made us feel very welcome. We had a fun trip and tour. You gave our students an exceptional learning experience."

From Pam Durbin, R.N. at Gladstone Area Schools and Marlene Nelsen, R.N. at Escanaba Area Schools:

"Please send a bouquet of thanks to Dr. Keeker, all the physicians, nurses, PAs, NPs, and volunteers that helped provide sports physicals to middle school and high school athletes from Escanaba, Gladstone, Mid Pen, Rapid River, Bark River and Holy Name Schools. This is a wonderful community service for families in the area that happens because of the commitment of volunteers. Also special thanks this year to the staff at Holy Name School for letting us use their facilities."

From Escanaba Middle School sixth graders:

"Thank you to Mr. Mark Miller from your Tuesday afternoon sixth graders at Escanaba Middle School. Mr. Miller donated his time every Tuesday afternoon to give us a fun learning experience that we looked forward to every week! The staff at EMS truly appreciates your time and efforts in enhancing our students education."

From the August Mattson American Legion Post 71:

"August Mattson American Legion Post 71 of Gladstone would like to thank all the members and volunteers who helped place flags on the graves of veterans at Fernwood Cemetery in preparation for Memorial Day."

From Neil Botwright of Escanaba:

"Thank you to Tim Dagenais and the Dagenais Foundation for disposing of the 65 used auto tires that so called "Yoopers" have left in the ditches of Jaeger Road."
