ESCANABA - The Bay Area Art Association is celebrating its 40th year. Founded in 1971, it has provided members a place to learn, meet, exchange ideas, exhibit artwork and share their expertise in various media.
The Association began as a group of artists gathering to create their art in Artists Guilds.
Membership, artwork and displays have changed over the years. Four artist gatherings are offered each year, as well as a membership show in May, Concert Series in the Park in the summer, and the annual Waterfront Art Festival in August.
The 40th Anniversary Membership Show is May 19 through June 16 at the William Bonifas Fine Arts Center. Memorabilia from the past will be on display in the studio area. Membership dues and artwork will be accepted May 10-11 from noon to 5:30 p.m. in the Upstairs Gallery. Members will also be voting for four places on the Board of Directors, with six people running.
Anyone wishing to share photos or other memories about the Art Association, can contact Phyllis at 428-1313, e-mail email@example.com or bring items to the Bonifas on May 10-11.
