New offroad park to host Mud Drag event

BARK RIVER - The U.P. Mud Fest presented by the Island Resort and Casino and the Hannahville Indian Community will be held July 9-10 at the new 3 Fires Offroad Park.

The Mud Fest is a weekend offroad racing event which will include ATV's Mud Drags, Tough Trucks, Truck Mud Drags, ATV 4x4 hill in the hole, and Truck hill in the hole. The events are sanctioned by U.P. Mud Drags Association and U.P. Stunt Jumpers.

The event will also include camping, live music and bonfires.

Event admission is $20 for the weekend, which includes camping. Ages 12 and under are free.

Registration will begin Saturday from 8-11 a.m. Racing will start at noon.

The 3 Fires Offroad Park is located three miles south of Bark River on D road and is a new park under development covering over 200 acres. Plans for the completed facility include a rock crawling course, different levels of mud pits, an obstacle course and trail rides.

The Park will open April 2 at noon for the Spring Mud Run. Offroad enthusiasts are enouraged to bring their four-wheelers and trucks, as well as any ideas to improve the park. Admission is free.
