Police arrest 2 for drugs, firearms

GLADSTONE - Two people were arrested on felony firearm and drug charges following investigation into a motorist accused of pointing a gun at an occupied vehicle Thursday, according to Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post.

At 3:20 p.m., Gladstone troopers received an area-wide broadcast from the Manistique Post about a motorist allegedly pointing a handgun at a vehicle with a female driver and a male passenger inside. The victims identified the suspect and described the suspect's vehicle to troopers.

The vehicle was stopped by police on U.S. 2 in Rapid River after being located traveling west on the highway. The driver, a 28-year-old Manistique man, and the passenger, a 21-year-old Gulliver woman, were taken into custody.

The man was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of a schedule 4 narcotic. The woman was arrested for possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of a schedule 4 narcotic. Both were lodged in Delta County Jail and are expected to be arraigned in Delta County District Court today, said troopers.

The incident remains under investigation. Troopers were assisted by Gladstone Public Safety and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources & Environment.
