MANISTIQUE - The preliminary examination for a Germfask man, accused of assaulting a Manistique woman in December, has been rescheduled for later this month, according to court officials.
Terry Wayne Zellar, 34, was arrested in mid-January following investigation into an alleged domestic violence assault in Manistique on Dec. 30. The assault was reported to Manistique Public Safety on Jan. 4. Zellar's preliminary examination, originally set for Jan. 28, has been rescheduled for Feb. 25 in Schoolcraft County District Court.
Zellar is charged with assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony. He is accused of assaulting a 28-year-old Manistique woman who was treated for injuries at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and later released.
In addition to the assault charge, Zellar is also charged with domestic violence, a 93-day misdemeanor.
A felony enhancement charge of habitual offender, third offense, has also been authorized.
Zellar remains lodged in Schoolcraft County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond.
