Firefighters battle Bark River blaze

ESCANABA - The Bark River Fire Department responded to a fully-engulfed house fire this morning at 1518 10th Road in Bark River Township.

The fire, which was called in at approximately 8:30 a.m., was initially reported as a chimney fire, but soon engulfed the home. The home is believed to be considered a complete loss.

Escanaba, Ford River and Harris Township Fire Departments provided mutual aid on the call and WE Energies was on scene to disconnect power around the structure. Escanaba Public Safety and Rampart EMS also responded. The conditions of any occupants of the home is unknown at this time.
