BIG RAPIDS - The former Marissa Sue Shafer became the bride of Thomas James Plouff on July 24 at 4 p.m. An outdoor ceremony and reception took place on the shores of Lake Michigan at Beautiful Lighthouse Point in St. Ignace. Sheryl Sedgeman presided.
Maid of honor was Angela Bell, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Ember Boucher, friend of the bride; Kim Balsley and Jessica Towne, cousins of the bride; and Michelle Marshall, sister of the groom. Flowergirls were Savannah Berube, daughter of the groom, and Ava Hook, cousin of the bride.
Standing as best man for his friend was Patrick Johnson. Groomsmen were Brian Soderman and Adam Hughes, friends of the groom; Brian Shafer, brother of the bride; and Eric Marshall, brother-in-law of the groom. Brycen Knight, son of a friend of the bride, served as ringbearer.

Seating the wedding guests were Kurt Wilson and Scott McLaughlin, friends of the groom.
A 2004 graduate of White Cloud High School, Marissa earned a bachelor's degree in health care administration from Ferris State University in 2008. The daughter of David and Mary Shafer of White Cloud, Mich., she is employed as an in-patient care associate at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids.
The son of James and Shurlee Plouff of Gladstone, Thomas is a 1999 graduate of Gladstone Area High School. He earned an associate's degree in 2002 from Bay de Noc Community College and a bachelor's degree in 2007 from Ferris State University, both in automotive management. He is a foreman with Tree's Incorporated of Sand Lake, Mich.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Plouff are at home in Big Rapids.
