WESTLAND - Tara Joy Holtslander and Gary Anthony Figi were married July 24 at the First United Methodist Church in Hancock. Rev. Amy Terhune officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony. A reception followed at The Shelden Grill in Houghton.

Tara selected her friend, Sharon Hubbard, to stand as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sydney Curry, Dana Gray and Jennifer Klinkner, all friends of the bride.

Standing as Gary's best man was Eric Koronka, friend of the couple. Groomsmen were Luke Dodde, Ted Dumke and Aaron Riddle, all friends of the groom, and Michael Figi, brother of the groom.

Serving as ushers for the ceremony were Shawn Katerberg and Matthew Riddle. A scripture reading was done by Joe Kirklin, friend of the couple.

The daughter of John and Cindy Holtslander of Rapid River, Tara is a 2003 graduate of Rapid River High School. In 2008 she received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Michigan Technological University. She is currently pursuing an associate's degree in interior design at Henry Ford Community College. She also volunteers as an assistant coach for the John Glenn High School Varsity volleyball team in Westland, Mich.

Gary is the son of Gary and Pam Figi of West Bloomfield, Mich. He is a 2002 graduate of Walled Lake Central High School and a 2007 graduate of Michigan Technological University. Gary earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He has been employed as an engineer with Troy Design and Manufacturing in Redford, Mich., for the past three years.

The newlyweds honeymooned in Milwaukee and Chicago before returning to Westland, where they have made their home.
