ESCANABA - David Arthur Harrison, 74, of 4734 Danforth Road, Escanaba, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.
He was born on Nov. 21, 1936, in Escanaba and was the son of George and Esther (Thompson) Harrison. David attended school in Cornell and Flat Rock. Following school, he moved to Chicago and then Milwaukee. He married the former Elinore Hanson in Rapid River. In 1961, David joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at the Walter Reed Medical Center. At the completion of his duty in the Army in 1963, he returned to Escanaba. David was employed as a foreman with Snowden, Inc. in the road construction area for more than 20 years. He also worked for Johnson Livestock, the Delta County Road Commission operating equipment, and until his illness he enjoyed his bread run for Robitaille Enterprises.
David was a member of the United States White Coats. He was also an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Escanaba and held the position of Deacon. He loved spending time with his family and especially treasured the times that they all could attend church together.
He valued spending time at his hunting camp in Watson and was the "camp cook." David enjoyed making maple syrup and delivering it to family and friends in Welch's grape juice jars. He also was famous for delivering donuts to his family and friends. David loved being in the out-ofdoors, boating, backhoes, tractors, having fun with his family and friends, and his two dogs Sassy and Tuffy.
He is survived by: daughters, Brenda (David) Muhlenbeck of Gladstone, Bonnie (Kevin) Miller of Madison, Wis. and Penny (Daryl) Miron of Rapid River; Grandchildren, Danielle, Denise and Tim Muhlenbeck; Ashley, Bradley and Cody Miller; Ross and Alec Miron; great-grandchildren, Nyllah and Kaydym; Mother Esther Harrison (98 years old) of Gladstone; brother, John (Sherry) Harrison of Cornell; sister Marcie (Frank) Ibarra of Escanaba; special friend Sheila; many nieces, nephews and cousins; loving dogs at home, Sassy and Tuffy. His father George preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veteran's Council service will take place at 2:30 p.m. Funeral services celebrating the life of David Arthur Harrison will follow at 5 p.m. in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Rick Binford and Jim Nephew officiating. A luncheon will be served at Grace Church in Gladstone at the conclusion of the funeral service.
