WAKEFIELD - A man was arrested in Wakefield for felonious assault and aggravated domestic violence Sunday. Police responded to a 9-1-1 hangup call and found the man covered in blood, according to a news release.
When troopers from the Wakefield State Police Post arrived at the scene around 2:30 a.m., the man was sitting on the front steps of the residence with blood on him. The 32-year-old Wakefield man told police he had cut himself several times, according to troopers from the post. No one else was injured.
Upon further investigation, troopers were told the man allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a knife, threatened to kill the occupants of the house, and set the home on fire. A piece of furniture inside the residence was damaged by fire, said troopers this morning.
The man was arrested for felonious assault and aggravated domestic violence. After receiving medical care, the man was lodged in Gogebic County Jail. Bond was set at $20,000.
Troopers were assisted a the scene and at the hospital by Gogebic County Sheriff Department, Wakefield Fire Department, Beacon Ambulance, and the Department of Human Services.
Troopers and officials from the Michigan State Police Fire Marshall Division continue to investigate the incident.
