ESCANABA - Mary Ann Cancilla and Matthew Heath, both of Escanaba, are engaged to be married.
Mary Ann, a native of downstate Bellaire, graduated from Northern Michigan University with a bachelor's of science degree in English/writing and a minor in journalism.
She has been employed with Ogden News Publishing of Michigan since 2004, having worked for both the Houghton Daily Mining Gazette and the Escanaba Daily Press.

She is currently the news editor of the Daily Press. Mary Ann is the daughter of Kurt and Kay Cancilla of Chatam and the late Sharon Cancilla.
Matthew, a native of Deerfield, Mich., is a commercial lines agent at Garceau, Wenick-Kutz, Magowan Insurance Agency in Escanaba. He is a former advertising account representative of the Daily Press.
Matthew also volunteers for the Delta County Jaycees, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area and is a member of Delta Force, Class of 2010. His parents are Jane and Kermit Kidder of Stephenson.
The couple's wedding ceremony will take place Oct. 9 in Escanaba.
