ESCANABA -Grace E. (Nyquist) Seidl, 88, of 2706 3rd Ave. S., Escanaba, passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.
She was born May 11, 1922, in Escanaba, and was the daughter of John and Gertrude (Johnson) Nyquist.
The former Grace Nyquist married Bernard Seidl on Sept. 20, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1998.
Grace was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, working crossword puzzles, knitting, gardening and going to the casino.
Grace loved to reminisce about old times and growing up with her family. Christmas was always a special time for Grace and she enjoyed preparing Swedish dishes. She also volunteered with the foster grandparents and loved to spend time with children and was known as Grama Grace.
Grace E. Seidl is survived by three daughters, Sherri (William) Schultz of Gladstone, Vicki (Jim) Blair of Energy, Ill., Merri Stern of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Fay) Nyquist of Escanaba, Jim (Judy) Nyquist of Okemos, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Clyde and John Nyquist; and sisters, Margaret Morin and Marie Nyquist.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Grace E. Seidl will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Christine Ertl officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services at the Bethany Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
