BARK RIVER - Robert Dale Henderson, 71, of 6013F Road in Bark River (Schaffer), passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at his home in Schaffer following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 18, 1939, in Escanaba, and was the son of Alex and Mabel (Slulter) Henderson. Bob grew up in Eustice and graduated from Bark River Harris High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from June 5, 1962, until he was honorably discharged on June 4, 1964. Bob married the former Priscilla Hossele on Oct. 20, 1962, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 2004. He then married the former Bertha Lee Johnson-Seger on July 1, 2006, in Poplar, Wis.
Bob ran a dairy farm in Schaffer and later drove truck for Mead Paper Company until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Salvation Army.

Robert Dale Henderson is survived by: two daughters, Kelly (Jeff) Gillmet of Eatonville, Wa., and Bonnie (Steve) Butler of Medicine Lake, Wa.; two sons, Michael (Liz) Henderson of Ramsey, Minn., Shawn (Kelly) Henderson of Gladstone; five grandchildren; brother, Allen (Rose) Henderson of Escanaba; sisters, Sally (Robert) Farrel of Escanaba, Elaine (Vern) Erickson of Bark River; stepchildren, Robin (Dan) Macomber of Charles City, Iowa, Scott Seger of Charles City, Iowa, Mariellen (Michael) Malena of Charles City, Iowa, Dorothy (Craig) Gorell of Eau Claire, Wis., and Fred (Dawn) Seger of Poplar, Wis.; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veteran's Council services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services celebrating the life of Robert Dale Henderson will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Salvation Army with Maj. William Cox officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the Salvation Army Fellowship Hall. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
