ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Charles G. Burhans and Emily Messersmith, both of Ann Arbor, Mich., announce their engagement to marry.
Charles is the son of Chuck and Lorrie Burhans, of Cornell. He is a 1998 graduate of Escanaba Area High School. He holds he holds both a bachelor's and master's degree in industrial operations engineering from the University of Michigan. Charles is presently employed at Applied Safety and Ergonomics, Inc., in Ann Arbor.
Emily is the daughter of Rev. Canon Ed Messersmith and Rev. Daphne Messersmith of Duncannon, Pa., and Joan and John Ragsdale of Richardson, Texas. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at Pennsylvania State University, a master's degree in psychology from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in education and psychology, also from the University of Michigan. Emily is employed at Arbor Research Collaborative for Health in Ann Arbor.
