This week's bouquets go to:
` From William Bonifas Fine Arts Center staff:
The William Bonifas Fine Arts Center would like to thank all of the donors, volunteers and participants who helped make the "Speakeasy at the Bonifas" Annual Auction for the Arts such a huge success (and a fun party, too). The generous donations of our business community, artists and supporters was awesome.
` From the Cans for the County Committee:
Earlier this year Delta County saw the outpouring of donations for the Cans for the County food drive that benefitted the local food pantrys. That the series of events was a huge success is due to the generosity of individuals, clubs, organizations and businesses plus all the volunteers. We tried to publicly thank and recognize all those involved, but being fallible, we missed Pit Stop Quick Lube and owner Bill Gartner for his immediate and generous response to our request. He deserves a big bouquet.
` From Holy Name School staff:
The teachers, staff, administration and Foster Grandparents of Holy Name Catholic School would like to thank our Home and School for the delicious luncheon, flowers and gifts we received for Teacher Appreciation Week. We appreciate everything you do throughout the year to help our school and assist us in helping the children that we serve. God bless you, and many thanks!
` From Escanaba and Gladstone Athletic Departments:
On behalf of the students and athletic departments of Gladstone and Escanaba Schools, we would like to thank Dr. Keeker, all medical providers, and volunteers, for helping with another successful year of Sports Physicals for our athletes.
` From Jean A. Schmidt, Gladstone:
"Thank you to all who voted for the cutest pets in the Delta Plaza Mall in April. All monies collected go to the Delta Area Animal Society and help fund the spay/neuter program.
"Congratulations to the first and second place winners from the third place winner, Deuter. And a big "thank you" to Lorene Trotter who organized this event as well as many others. Please support the DAAS!
` From Dwaine Menard, food pantry supervisor:
"The Escanaba St. Vincent de Paul Society would like to send a bouquet to all of the mail carriers and other volunteers who collected the food for the Post Office food drive. It added a lot of work to their day and we sincerely appreciate all of their efforts. We also wish to thank all those in the community who donated food. Your donations are appreciated and will help those in need. Many thanks."
` From Karen Erva, third grade teacher at Bark River-Harris School:
"The BR-H staff would like to send a big bouquet to our administration and Joan Richer for the wonderful breakfast for staff appreciation week. We would also like to thank the BR-H PTO for the fabulous luncheon they provided. The Student Council also deserves a thank you for all of the wonderful goodies they gave us. Thank you everyone!"
` From Mary Strom:
"Bouquets to the Hannahville Indian Community for your concern for the safety of our children at the Gladstone beach came with a sigh of relief. Yes it takes more than a village to raise and care for children. You are truly an asset to our community.
` From Judy and Cindy, Christian Park Village employees:
"Thank you for bringing the fabulous Doug Church, Elvis tribute impersonator to the area; but most of all for letting our resident from Christian Park Village get in for free and reserving seats for us with her. To see her smile and sing along to the songs and get a scarf and kiss from Doug was priceless. You made her and our evening a very memorable one."
Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.
Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.
