Bouquets

Police officer went above and beyond

April 17, 2010
Daily Press

This week's bouquets go to:

` From Cheryl Bernard of DeTour Village:

"I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Officer John Harris of Gladstone Public Safety for his generous help on Sunday afternoon.

"I unfortunately locked my keys inside my car while visiting with family members in the Gladstone area. I figured I was doomed, especially on a Sunday, but he promptly came to the rescue. I appreciate Officer Harris' kind and lighthearted demeanor while helping with my predicament."

` From Janice VanEffen and Sue Roberts:

"Escanaba Fan Club Spring Fling Co-chairs Janice VanEffen and Sue Roberts would like to send out a big thank you to everyone involved with another successful Fundraiser. As our guest speaker Jeff Nault noted, any event like this takes a team effort.

"This wouldn't be possible without the help of the committee, volunteers, business donors, and supporters who buy the dinner tickets and come out and enjoy the event. Thank you to everyone in the community for supporting us."

Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.

We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.

Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they've done. Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.

They may also be sent to us by going to our Web site, www.dailypress.net, and clicking on the submit news button. Once there, click on "Bouquets" and follow the simple instructions.
