ESCANABA - Three suspects from Detroit were scheduled to be arraigned in court today on charges resulting from a drug bust at an Escanaba residence Tuesday night, according to the Delta County Sheriff's Department.

The arrests of the three suspects were the result of a tip which led police to a home on South 17th Street where a search warrant was executed, said sheriff's officials.

Law enforcement confiscated a large amount of marijuana, 15 grams of heroin, and a small amount of powder cocaine. The narcotics were all packaged for resale and have an approximate street value of $8,000. Officers also seized a large amount of cash at the scene, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.

The three male suspects, ages 18, 22 and 23, all from the Detroit area, were arrested on various charges of trafficking narcotics and lodged in the county jail.

They were expected to be arraigned in Delta County District Court this morning.

Investigation into the drug trafficking is ongoing. Additional arrest warrants will also be sought on several other individuals suspected to be involved in the case, according to the sheriff's department.

Assisting sheriff's officials in the drug bust were Escanaba Public Safety and the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team, also known as UPSET.

Anyone with information regarding illegal drug activity is asked to call local law enforcement or UPSET at 1-800-882-8202.
