Living in the Upper Peninsula is a great experience for anyone. It can show you the slower pace of life and allow you to enjoy the outdoors. In the major cities of our country, that does not happen.
However, as one area resident found out, there is much more out there and she is doing her part to help improve the lives of those in much dire straits.
Brittany Fox, a former Garden resident, has taken on the enormous task of trying to help women out in Thailand. She got an idea from her brother about how she can have the women make money there and improve their own lot in life.
You see, Fox had received a crocheted handbag out of recycled plastic from a Garden resident. Brittany's brother said she could make the same bags with the women in Thailand and help them gain a better life.
That is what she is doing now and it is having a tremendous effect on people. Her ambition is serving as a means for these women to help themselves and helping the environment at the same time.
This just goes to show that anyone can have a much larger impact on the world if they put their mind to it. Just ask Brittany Fox. A Yooper girl has gone global and now is trying to improve a poor part of the world and to help the environment at the same time by using a recycled product.
Our applause goes out to Brittany and we wish her well on her business venture; however, we also applaud her for work done to try and help improve a little part of the world. If even more people would follow Fox's lead, the world would be a much better place.
