GLADSTONE - Steve Sovey and the former Alyssa Crossman were united in marriage on Aug. 8 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Pastor Paul Mai presided over the 1 p.m. nuptials. The reception followed at the Bark River Senior Center.
Maid of honor was Melissa Paquin, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Amanda Crossman, sister-in-law of the bride; friends of the bride Sara Goodman and Sadie Paradise, and Stephanie Reeder, cousin of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Allie Williams, cousin of the bride. Flowergirl was Haven Schomburg, niece of the groom.
Best man was David D'Ambrosio, friend of the groom. Standing as groomsmen were Andy and Casey Sovey, brothers of the groom and brothers of the bride Tom Crossman and Chris Crossman. Ringbearer was Alex Crossman, nephew of the bride.

The new bride is a 2006 graduate of Gladstone Area High School. Alyssa is the daughter of Steve and Linda Crossman of Menominee, and Grace and JC Bergeron of Rapid River. She is a 2008 graduate of Bay de Noc Community College with an associate's degree in accounting/computer specialist. Alyssa is employed as a customer service representative at America's Best Value Inn of Escanaba
The new groom is also a 2006 graduate of Gladstone Area High School. Steve is the son of Pat and Cherese Sovey of Gladstone. A member of the Michigan National Guard unit of Gladstone, he is a student at Bay de Noc Community College, where he is pursuing a degree in engineering. Steve plans to transfer to Michigan Technological University to complete his degree.
In August, the new Mr. and Mrs. Sovey honeymooned in Montego Bay, Jamaica. They have made their home in Gladstone.
