United Way making a final push

December 9, 2009
Daily Press

Yes, the Christmas season is upon the U.P. once again. Of course, we all know donations are being collected by many organizations to help those in need out during the holiday season.

Yet, there is another group wrapping up its campaign at the end of the month and they are in dire need of your support. The United Way of Delta County is looking for donors to help them get closer to their $270,000 goal before the end of the year.

We know you have heard plenty of stories about people needing help, but the United Way is trying to help 17 different organizations to help others throughout the year. Without your support, these agencies could see drastic cuts in the upcoming year.

Everyone has been generous in the past and we are asking you be generous just one more time toward this organization. We are sure if you look at who they help, there is a good chance that you or a family member has benefited in some way.

Whether it be your child in girl scouts, or some help received through another organization, the United Way is pleading you give whatever you can spare.

The United Way knows it is not the best of years and reaching the goal may not be possible, but the closer we can get, the more money the agencies can receive.

If you want more information on how to give or just about what groups the United Way helps, contact Julie Mallard at the United Way office at 786-3736.

Remember, even by giving $1 you are helping the United Way help hundreds of others who rely on the member agencies. Also, by giving to the United Way, you are living united within your community.
