ESCANABA - Charles "Chuck" Phil Miron, 62, of 3296 18th Lane, Escanaba, passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, at his home in Riverland.
He was born Nov. 5, 1947, in Escanaba, and was the son of Philip A. and Charlotte A. (Cass) Miron. He graduated form Holy Name Catholic High School in Escanaba in 1965. Chuck was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving in Korea. He married the former Estelle "Elly" Larson on Aug. 28, 1971, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Escanaba.
Chuck worked at the meat department at Sav-Mor and then was employed in construction, and most recently, was the yard foreman for Industrial Maintenance Services (IMS) until his retirement for health reasons in 2008. Work was important to Chuck and he enjoyed going to work every day. Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an avid NASCAR fan, and loved to watch M.A.S.H. He will be missed by many and was a good friend to all!
Charles "Chuck" Miron is survived by: his wife, Estelle "Elly" Miron; two sons, Phil (Sarah) Miron of Riverland and Kevin Miron of Escanaba; a sister, Patricia Dishaw of Kingsford; sisters-in-law, Kitty (Charles) Olsen of Escanaba and Melinda (David) Nye of Killen, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nelse and Ethel Larson, and brother-in-law, Tom Larson.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veteran's Council services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services celebrating the life of Charles "Chuck" Miron will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Francis DeGroot from St. Anne's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
