ESCANABA - The questions to be used in search of a new county administrator were pared down following a meeting of the Delta County Board's Personnel Committee Thursday.
Committee members Chairman Darrel Bengry and Commissioner Les Ruohomaki met with Delta County Clerk Nancy Kolich and Susanne DuBord to review a list of potential candidate questions which will be presented to the full county board for approval on Dec. 1.
The questions covered areas ranging from accounting and finance to communications. Questions also will cover administration, economic development, human resources and labor.
The questions were prepared by K.R. Consultants based out of Traverse City. One commissioner also presented several questions to consider for the interview process.
During the review process, 56 potential questions were approved, with the number pared down to 35 so the interview process does not last more than one hour per candidate.
The county board received 10 initial applications for the position of county administrator, with one of those applicants withdrawing his application on Nov. 13.
The remaining nine applications have been reviewed with the list narrowed down to three potential applicants who met the overall criteria set in the job description.
Once the full board of commissioners approves the questions presented by the personnel committee, an interview schedule will be set.
Interviews for the county administrators position may begin in December, with a new administrator at the helm by January.
