SOO HILL - Richard and Diane LaMarche celebrated 50 years of marriage Oct. 24 with a blessing of their original vows during a 4 p.m. Mass at Holy Family Parish. Rev. Jose Maramattam officiated. Immediately following the Mass, a dinner was held in the Terrace Bay Inn Embers Room, in honor of Richard and Diane.
Richard and the former Diane Hereau were married during a ceremony at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock in 1959.
Maid of honor was Jean (Hereau) Nolde, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Beverly (LaMarche) Utt, sister of the groom, and Sandy (LaVallie) Krebs, friend of the bride.

Best man was the late Robert LaMarche, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were James Utt, brother-in-law of the groom, and Bill LaMarche, brother of the groom.
Richard worked for Neisner Bros. Dime Stores before going to work for Armstrong Paint and Varnish Works, where he worked his way up to plant manager over a 13-year period.
The couple returned to Escanaba in 1973 to purchase Delta Frame Co.
Richard started work at Mead Paper in May 1982, where he worked almost 20 years in the No. 1 conversion area, retiring in 2002.
Richard enjoys spending time at camp, while Diane is enjoying her small home in Soo Hill, after 33 years of caring for their special-needs children.
Richard and Diane are members of Holy Family Parish in Flat Rock.
The couple raised four children - Gary (Laura) LaMarche of Brampton Township, and the late Marilee, Rick and Sherrie, who passed away due to complications caused by muscular dystrophy.
The couple also has two grandchildren - Christopher and Cassandra LaMarche.
