Mary A. Nadeau

RAPID RIVER - Mary A. Nadeau, 74, of 14261 24th Road, Rapid River (Isabella), died Nov. 2, 2009, at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.

She was born June 5, 1935, in Magna, Utah, the daughter of Paul and Annie (Frkovich) Rokich. She graduated from high school in Magna and received her nursing degree from Bay de Noc Community College in Escanaba in 1971.

On May 23, 1998, she married Lyle F. Nadeau in Salt Lake City, Utah, in a ceremony performed by her brother.

She was a licensed practical nurse and retired with more than 27 years of faithful service to the United States government given at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain.

Mary attended St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Nahma. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, crafts, decorating and visiting the casino. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She continued to utilize her nursing skills by caring for friends and neighbors who needed assistance. Her kind, loving, adventurous spirit and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle of Isabella; children, Sherri Olson of Alexandria, La., Sue (Dave) Bednarz of Green Bay, Steve Tremain of Wisconsin and Brian Teremain; stepchildren, Jackie (Jon) Soblaskey of St. Ignace, and Jill (John Harrison) Nadeau of Watertown, Wis.; grandchildren, Carly, Rory, Luke, Jessie, Jake, Nathan, Matt, Shanna, Nikki, Angie and Sarah; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Pete Rokich of Magna, Utah, Paul (Ann) Rokich of Pueblo, Colo., and Nick Rokich of Montana; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Mike and Steve Rokich.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Deacon Rod Groleau officiating.

Burial will be in the Moss Lake Cemetery at Isabella.

Memorials may be directed to the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center, Voluntary Service, 325 East H St., Iron Mountain, MI 49801.

The Messier-Broullire Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
