ESCANABA - Elaine O. Olsen, 87, 1407 9th Ave. S., Escanaba, passed away peacefully late Saturday evening, Oct. 31, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital with her family at her side following a brief illness.

Elaine was born in Escanaba on Feb. 23, 1922, the daughter of Herman and Alice (Taylor) Erickson. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1940 as valedictorian of her class and was a lifelong resident of Escanaba.

She loved being with family and loved watching all sports, especially NCAA basketball and watching Tiger Woods on the pro golf tour. She enjoyed going to the casino with her sister, Lorraine Shiner, and doing crossword puzzles and working on her computer. She was an avid Packer fan and a big Brett Favre fan. When she was younger, she enjoyed hunting deer and walleye fishing.Elaine started her employment years with Schneider, Larche, Haapala, & Co. She later became the secretary for the operating engineers for over 20 years.

Elaine Erickson married Kenneth Olsen on Dec. 2, 1946, at St. Patrick's in Escanaba.

She was a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick's Church.

Among survivors include her husband, Kenneth "Ken" of Escanaba; daughter, Laurie (Bart) Stupak of Menominee; grandson, Kenneth Lee Francis (Cristina) Stupak of Los Angeles, Calif.; and sister, Lorraine Shiner of Escanaba.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Bart Stupak Jr. "BJ"; and brother, Ray Erickson.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. (EDT) at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. (EDT) at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Eric Olson officiating.Entombment will be in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
