BARK RIVER - Joseph and Nancy (Marohnic) Richer are celebrating 30 years of marriage today. Throughout the week, they will celebrate the occasion with a family dinner and a sight-seeing vacation.
The two took their matrimonial vows Oct. 13, 1979, during a ceremony at Sacred Heart Church in Schaffer.
Maid of honor at the couple's wedding was Diane (Kleikamp) Wieciech. Bridesmaids were: Jodi (Peterson) Scheid, niece of the groom; Sandy (Richer) Derouin, the groom's niece; Diane Marohnic, sister of the bride; Sue (Derocher) Lippens; and Gayle Derocher.

Best man was John Robinette. Groomsmen were: Allen Richer, brother of the groom; Jeff Derocher; Rodney Porath; Joe Derouin; and Bruce Lippens.
Ushers were Mike Richer, brother of the groom, and Al Marohnic, brother of the bride. Ringbearer was Mike Richer Jr., nephew of the groom. Flowergirl was Michelle (Richer) Medina, the groom's niece.
A 1973 graduate of Bark River-Harris High School, Joe is the son of Carmel and the late Joseph Richer of Schaffer. Following his previous positions at Harnischfeger and Jacklin Steel, Joe has been employed with NewPage for the past 20 years. He is currently 1st helper on the No. 3 coater, and is a Local 21 Union representative. Joe is a member of St. Anne's Church in Escanaba, where he also serves as a Eucharistic minister. He serves as a West Delta County 4-H Club leader, and as a high-school basketball referee and baseball umpire.
A 1978 graduate of Bark River-Harris High School, Nancy is the daughter of Carol and Albert Marohnic of Bark River. She is also a member of St. Anne's Church. Nancy is a dance teacher and owner of N & T Dance for the past 25 years. Currently, she is enrolled in the Emergency Medical Technician training program to become an EMT. In addition to serving as a West Delta County 4-H leader, she also enjoys horse riding and babying her three dogs.
Joe and Nancy enjoy working together on their hobby farm.
The couple has three daughters - Heidi Richer of Davenport, Iowa, Holly Richer of Escanaba, and Hailie Richer of Bark River.
