Barbarotto - Schichtl

CHICAGO - Gina Maria Barbarotto and Dr. Scott Edward Schichtl were married July 18 at St. Peter's Cathedral in Rockford, Ill. A reception was held at the Clock Tower Resort & Conference Center in Rockford.

Jennifer (Steede) Fitzpatrick and Jaylene Steede, sisters of the bride, were matron and maid of honor, respectively. Bridesmaids were Heather (Woodaz) Spencer and Christine (Eade) Flink, friends of the bride, formerly of Escanaba, and Jody (Schichtl) Gunderson, sister of the groom.

Gina's uncle, Richard E. Lundin, formerly of Escanaba, escorted her down the aisle. Lila McKevitt, cousin of the groom, was the flower girl. Readers were friends of the bride Krista (Burroughs) DeRidder, formerly of Escanaba, Stacy Simpson and Vita (Palazzolo) Unger.

Gary Schichtl, father of the groom, and Kurt Schichtl, brother of the groom were best men. Groomsmen were Storm Schichtl, nephew of the groom, and Dr. Rob Andino and Bill Gibson, friends of the groom.

Grant Larkin, cousin of the groom, was the ring bearer. Jack Marunde, formerly of Spalding, served as usher. Soloists were cousins of the groom Kelly (Spangler) Larkin and Angie (Spangler) McKevitt.

The new bride is the daughter of Marlene Nelsen of Escanaba and the late Dr. John A. Barbarotto, and the granddaughter of the late Marian T. Nelsen of Escanaba. Gina is a 1990 graduate of Escanaba Area High School. She received a master's degree in molecular genetics in 1997 from Northern Michigan University, and a master's degree in business administration in 2004 from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, Lake Forest, Ill. Gina is currently an associate director in the Healthcare Alliance Department of Purdue Pharma, L.P.

The new groom is the son of Gary and Judy Schichtl of Clear Lake, Iowa. Scott is a 1986 graduate of Ventura High School in Ventura, Iowa. He received his doctorate degree in 1992 from Palmer Chiropractic College, Davenport, Iowa. A chiropractic neurology diplomate, Scott is the owner of HealthFirst Physical Rehab, a chiropractic and rehabilitation clinic in Rockford, Ill.

The newlyweds enjoyed an Eastern Mediterranean cruise and concluded their honeymoon with a trip to Venice, Italy. Mrs. Gina Maria Barbarotto and Dr. Scott Edward Schichtl have made their home in Lindenhurst, Ill.
