WELLS - John and Susan (Moran) Lemerand of Wells celebrated 50 years of marriage July 11. An anniversary celebration was held in the couple's honor, in combination with the wedding of their son, Jeff, and his new bride, Lyn (Dwyer), whom he married the previous day. A family dinner was also hosted at the lakeside home of the couple's son, Mark, and his wife, Alice.
John and Susan were married July 11 at St. Bruno's Church in Nadeau, with the late Fr. Gino Ferraro presiding. A Mass was said by Fr. Courier that same day, in honor of the couple.
John and Susan have been members of St. Anthony's parish for the past 47 years.

John is retired from Harnischfeger Corporation and from doing carpentry. He enjoys building and restoring 1932 "street rod" cars.
Susan retired in 2001 from her career as an elementary school teacher in Flat Rock and Gladstone schools. She enjoys painting with oils, acrylic and water colors. She is also a member of St. Anthony prayer group and Flat Rock Birthday Club. One of her specialties is painting cards for each club member's birthday.
Together, John and Susan raised six children - Mark (Alice), Cathy (Michael) Narsete, Sandy, Mike and Jeff (Lyn).
The couple also has eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
