MANISTIQUE Jerome and Jean Albright of Escanaba celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 25 in "The Storm Shelter," the family's favorite gathering location, adjacent to their Indian Lake cottage. The celebration was attended by the couple's three children and their spouses, Craig (Donna), Patti (John) and Paul (Carrie); and six grandchildren. Emily, Brendan, Kelly, Jack, Kira and Stosh.
Several attendants from the original wedding party were also present, including Shirley Gardapee and Christine Dixon, sisters of the bride, and Ray Gardapee, brother-in-law of the bride. Other special guests included Bob, Bobbie and Shelly Albright, Corinne Schnurer, and extended family members and friends from the Indian Lake shoreline.
Jerry and Jean were married Sept. 5, 1959, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Manistique. They resided in Ellsworth and Powers in the 1960s, Sterling, Colo. from 1970-74, and Escanaba since that time.

Jean is the daughter of the late Christopher and Josephine Schnurer.
Jerome is the son of the late Robert Albright and the late Leotine Fitzhugh.
Jerry worked as an education administrator, retiring as business manager of the Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District in 1987.
Jean worked as an elementary special education teacher and retired from Escanaba Schools in 1998.
They are members of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba.
