Servant - Carlson

PERKINS - John Carlson and the former Karen Servant were married 50 years ago Aug. 22, 1959, at St. Joseph Church in Perkins.

Original attendants include: Mary Ann (Vermote) Schleich and Gloria (McNutt) Robbins, both friends of the bride and Bill Demeuse, friend of the groom and cousin of the bride, as well as the late Robert Beach, uncle of the bride.

In March, the couple's daughters and their families gave them an anniversary party.

An anniversary picnic, hosted by the the couple's son and family will take place Aug. 22.

John was a conversion foreman for Mead Paper in Escanaba before retiring in 1996. Karen was a housewife.

Both are members of St. Joseph Church, enjoy golfing and spending time with friends and grandchildren. In addition, John enjoys hunting while Karen likes to cross-stitch. The couple spends three months in Coolidge, Ariz., in the winter.

The couple has three daughters, Lisa Carlson of Gilbert, Ariz., Gina Beddow of Queen Creek, Ariz., Kelli Ann Hanson of Mesa, Ariz., and one son, John Jr. of Perkins. They also have seven grandchildren, Reece, Brooke, Jordan, Billy, Zach, Anna and Cole.

The couple resides in Perkins.
