Verbrigghe - Terrien

CORNELL - George and Cecilia (Verbrigghe) Terrien of Cornell celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary July 26 with a party hosted by their children at the Terriens' home farm in Cornell. Joining them for the celebration were their children - Linda (Dale) Plouff and Carol (Barry) Porter of Gladstone, Janet (Bill) Shelley of Homestead, Fla., and Barbara (Matt) Guindon of Cornell.

Special guests in attendance were foster children Mary Hansen (Wayne) Gaus of Gladstone, Gladstone and Charles "Chuck" (Tina) Godin of Antioch, Ill., and many of the couple's 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The anniversary dinner was followed by hayrides, along with the fellowship of several friends and family members. The anniversary celebrations concluded with an Aug. 1 blessing of their marriage at Holy Family Church in Gladstone, with Rev. Joseph Maramattam officiating.

Married Aug. 13, 1949, at St. Joseph's Church in Perkins, the couple's reception was held at the Verbrigghe farm, with a dance at Cornell Town Hall. George and Cecilia continue to reside in Cornell, where they operated a farm until 1986.
