Beck honored by Kiwanis

ESCANABA - Escanaba resident Jack Beck has been awarded the Legion of Honor Award in recognition of his 45 years of membership in Kiwanis International. No less impressive is Jack's attendance record, which has been "perfect" for 44 years.

A member of Bay de Noc Golden K Club of Escanaba for five years, and was a 40-year member of the Escanaba Noon Club, in which he held the position of Past President and also served as Lt. Governor in 1978-79.

Beck earned both the Distinguished President Award and the Lieutenant Governor Award with Diamond Growth. He was instrumental in the formation of several Kiwanis clubs in the area, including Bay Shore, Golden K, Schoolcraft County and Gladstone.

Jack also contributed toward the formation of many clubs, including Holy Name Builders Club and the Action Klub. Key Club at Escanaba Area High School, Mid Peninsula and North Central.

In 1979, Jack received a Life Member Award, and in 1998 he was presented the Hixon Award. A Life Fellow and a Kiwanis Heritage Society member, Jack currently serves as Golden K Club Escanaba President.
