John L. St. Germain
KINGSFORD - John L. St. Germain, 67, of Spread Eagle and Marco Island, FL, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
John was born July 8, 1942, in Detroit, MI, son of Eugenia (Smith) St. Germain and the late John L. St. Germain Sr.
John married Shirl Priester on December 27, 1985, in Spread Eagle, WI.
He earned a Master's degree from University of Wisconsin - Madison. John purchased his first Burger King in 1983 and eventually owned and operated several BK restaurants. He also was instrumental in purchasing and starting many different restaurant concepts; Burger King, Fenders, Pizzeria Unos, and Tumbleweed. He was extremely successful in his business career: holding the position of CEO for the majority of his life. Most recently he was the CEO of Diamondback Management INC.
He was extremely passionate about many of his loves in life. He enjoyed golf, football, history, fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. We will all miss the love and enthusiasm that you spread into our lives.
He leaves his wife, Shirl; his mother, Eugenia Kurz of Marquette; three sons, Eric (Amy) and Brian (Kathy) of Marquette, and Peter of Naples, FL; three grandchildren, Luke, Emma and Amanda; one brother, Patrick (Maggie) of Marquette; and one sister, Amy (Jay) Schiro of Madison.
Besides his father, John was preceded in death by one sister, Cindy.
Visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. CST on Monday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. CST at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls.
Pallbearers will be Eric, Brian and Peter St. Germain, Patrick St. Germain, John Feldt and Tom Barber.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ManorCare Health Services in John's memory.
