ESCANABA - The former Ardith Bougie married Daniel Ross 40 years ago on July 5, 1969, during a ceremony officiated by Rev. Hammar at Cental United Methodist, Escanaba.
Serving as maid of honor was Chire (Zavada) Larson, cousin of the bride. Audrey King and Laurie Kuchenberg, both friends of the couple, were bridesmaids.
Standing as best man was Russell Ross Jr., brother of the groom. Roy Thorbahn, cousin of the groom, and Norman Arnold, friend of the couple, stood as groomsmen.

David Bougie, brother of the bride, and Steve VanEffen, friend of the couple, served as ushers.
An anniversary dinner took place at the Stonehouse, hosted by the couple's daughter, Karen, and son-in-law, Scott Degnan. They were joined by David, Sue and Tim Bougie, Rusty and Mary Russ, Henry and Kaylan Thorbahn, Barb and Jim Couillard and Mike and Donna Degnan. They had just returned from a two-week trip touring Europe with their other daughter, retired United States Air Force master sergeant Dawn Smith, her husband, Maj. Tim Smith and their son, Zach Smith.
Daniel retired from NewPage, and Ardith retired from the Escanaba Area Schools in 2007 as a janitor, bus driver and noon-hour supervisor.
Daniel enjoys watching NASCAR racing and gardening. Ardith enjoys talking, going for coffee at the donut shop and reading. Both enjoy spending time with their three granchildren, Macy and Drake Degnan and Zach Smith, and also with the 12 "subdivision grandkids."
The Ross' children are Karen (Scott) Degnan of Escanaba and retired Master Sgt. Dawn Smith (Maj. Tim Smith) of Bocholt, Belgium.
The couple resides in Escanaba.
