New York, Sept 11, 2001-Islamic jihad terrorists fly hijacked airplanes into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, destroying the symbolic heart of capitalism.
Chicago, July 2009-Islamic jihad supporters hold a rally/convention to recruit additional members to their cause. Their stated objective; the fall of capitalism, to pave the way for an Islamic takeover of America and the world.
Washington D.C.-The President and Congress are tripping over themselves with efforts to bankrupt the country. Billions to financial institutions; which they promptly spent on lavish parties and bonuses to executives. Billions to the auto industry; then forced them into bankruptcy and a government takeover. Billions for an economic stimulus package that turns out to be 95 percent pork barrel projects. The result, record mortgage foreclosures, record unemployment, and a deficit equal to four times that of any previous deficit; total, 24 trillion dollars. We are paying 100 million per day in interest on money we borrowed from China and others. Americans work the first six months of the year just to pay taxes.
Under consideration is the Cap & Trade legislation, projected to increase the operating cost for every household, every business in the country; and an overhaul of the health care system, estimated to cost 1.5 to 3 trillion dollars over the next decade, with long waits and denied treatment a very real possibility.
Government takeover and intrusion into private business and industry is increasing every day. We now have approximately 25 "czars," appointed by the President, overseeing just about every aspect of our lives. Politicians are unresponsive to the concerns and desires of their constituents; instead pandering to party leaders and lobbyists. Increasing their personal wealth and power and getting reelected their main concern.
When does the insanity end? Does it end with the bankrupting of our country? The failure of capitalism? The takeover of America? Or do we need to remind our elected officials that this is our country, that we the people are still in charge, and that our government is our servant, not our master.
