GLADSTONE - A large gathering of family and friends celebrated the 50th wedding anniversary of Arlene and Gerald Pepin at the Terrace Bay Inn in Gladstone on May 16, 2009.
The former Arlene Steede married Gerald Pepin on May 16, 1959, at St. Joseph Church in Escanaba with Father Dominin Calme officiating. Bonnie Steede, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Dennis Pepin, brother of the groom, was best man.
Arlene is the daughter of the late Viola and Cecil Steede. Gerald is the son of the late Gerald and Anna Pepin.

Arlene and Gerald are both graduates of Escanaba High School. Gerald retired from the Air Force and from Anthony & Company. Arlene retired from KMart.
During their 20 years in the military, they served tours of duty in Turkey, Africa, Germany, Florida, Alabama, and the Philippines. Gerald retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in 1975.
The couple has three children: Gerald III (Teresa) Pepin of Monument, Colo.; Wayne Pepin of Gaylord, Mich.; and Mark Pepin of Buffalo, N.Y.
