HARRIS - Participants attending a drug abuse awareness program - featuring testimony by two drug detectives - got a dose of reality about methamphetamines and other illegal drugs Wednesday.
The seminar, held at the Island Resort and Casino Conference Center, was sponsored by the Visions Center at the Hannahville Indian Community.
The first speaker was Reynolds "Rey" Nejo, a retired Phoenix police officer and drug detective, now chief of police at an Indian community in Arizona. Nejo's presentation was about the increasing use of the drug methamphetamine, its effects on users, and the spin-off effects on society, including the Indian community.
