HERMANSVILLE - Adam Lemeronde is no stranger to the Gold Medal Basketball Tournament.

The former St. Norbert College cager has been playing at the Hermansville Community Center gym each year since age 18.

This year's trip to the 71st annual event may have been the sweetest for the 32-year-old player, however, as he helped The Bar of Green Bay earn the Class A title Sunday night over Stephenson Anderson-Diehm Funeral Home 92-79.

Lemeronde scored 22 points for The Bar, which led 76-56 with 13 minutes, 40 seconds left in the title contest.

Anderson-Diehm pulled within 82-72 on a putback by Gladstone graduate Mark Mills with seven minutes left to play. The Bar then secured the decision with nine unanswered points.

"It was just a matter of getting back to the basics," said Lemeronde, selected the tourney's and Class A Outstanding Player. "We just set a lot of picks and screens and got everyone involved. This is a beautiful place to play. There's a lot of history here. You can't find any tournaments like this around Green Bay. We had a great time."

Jason Leeman paced the winners with 24 points and Tom Granquist added 19. Nate Wotruba hit 19, Mills finished with 17 and Nate Anderson had 14 for Anderson-Diehm.

Granquist scored 26 points and Lemeronde added 23 Saturday in The Bar's 80-68 conquest of Hermansville Luft's Advertiser. Tyler Kazmierkoski hit 22 for Luft's.

Mills led the way with 25 points in Anderson-Diehm's 83-77 triumph over Hermansville BKP Logging Saturday. Wotruba hit 21 and Anderson had 19. Wes Austin scored 34 and Brian Arnold had 25 for the Loggers.

In Class B, Kyle Green collected 28 points as Norway Scott Iron Vinyl topped Poma Construction 89-79 for the title. Eric Sirrine scored 20 and Outstanding Player Kazmierkoski had 18. Rich Poma led the Rapid River-based team with 24 points. Lane Lindeman hit 16 and Trevor Lovell had 11.

Kazmierkoski scored 32 in an 86-59 triumph over Hermansville Pipkorn MInk Ranch in the semifinals. Green had 25. Casey Goodman led Pipkorn's with 19.

Poma hit 30 points and Lovell added 20 in Poma's 80-72 victory over Powers Lee's Greenery. Arnold scored 22 and Austin had 17 for Lee's.

Kazmierkoski scored 28 points and Green had 26 Saturday in Scott Iron Vinyl's 96-68 conquest of the Marinette Marines. Ryan Neubert led Marinette with 17. Dave Miller hit 16.

Lovell opened with a 39-point performance Saturday in an 82-76 triumph over The Bar. Poma added 22. Jason Lehman and Lemeronde hit 28 apiece and Keith Vorin had 18 for the Green Bay crew.

Pipkorn's reached the semifinals by eliminating Norway Knight Owl 84-64. Granquist scored 20 points. Goodman hit 16 and Mills had 14. Brett Bray paced Knight Owl with 24. Travis Mattson had 10.

Austin scored 25 in Lee's 61-58 victory over Kingsford Back In Motion. Jon Belaire hit 20 and Mitch Horn had 14 for Kingsford.

In the Class D final, Bryan LaChapelle, Sr. scored 24 points as Crystal Falls McNeil's Oilers topped Hermansville Broad Axe Saloon 79-68. Drew Gussert hit 17 and Outstanding Player Dave Graff had 16. Joe Pontbriand collected 20 points and Brett Bray tallied 17 for Broad Axe.

In Class EE, North Honda Motor Sports' height and size advantage proved too much for Norway Auto Parts as the Menominee-based squad posted an 88-74 in the championship game. Outstanding Player Miller hit 31 points and Tyler Eland added 15. Pete Leeman scored 29 and Taylor Bazile had 21 for Norway.

In Class E, Outstanding Player Aaron Bellisle tallied 15 points and Justin Dusso had 12, helping Daggett Kakuk Construction edge Hermansville Alias Bar 71-68. Gerald Whitens collected 25 and Jim Bal had 14 for Alias.
