HERMANSVILLE - Barbara Kay Gearhart, 50, of Hermansville, passed away Thursday Feb. 12, 2009, at home. The former Barbara Kay Finley was born Feb. 11, 1959 to the late Beatrice Finley and Emory Plummer Jr. in Howell, Mich, but was proud to grow up in Carney. On Jan. 8, 1982, Barb married Stan Gearhart in Menominee. She worked in the Plant Protection Department at Verso Paper in Quinnesec. She also volunteered her time as an EMT for Hermansville Rescue Squad and was a level II firefighter for the Meyer Township Fire Department. Barb was a very driven person who always got the job done whatever it may be. She was a very supportive mother and grandmother who loved coaching her kids in football, hockey, softball and baseball. She enjoyed kayaking, softball, fishing and hunting. Above all else, time spent with her family is what Barb enjoyed most. She attended Carney Evangelical Free Church in Carney.
Barbara is survived by: her husband Stan of Hermansville; two daughters, Nici Gearhart and Codi Gearhart both of Hermansville; three sons, Josaf Gearhart of Fort Knox Ky., Shane Gearhart of Hermansville and Lance Gearhart of Glendale Heights, Ill.; three grandchildren Jaelyn, Damian and Gabe Gearhart; two brothers Brad (Heather) Castle and Bryan (Shannon) Castle both of Carney; two sisters Karen (Ken) Stewart of Rinelander, Wis., and Lisa (Todd) Flatt of Engadine.
Memorial Service will be Sunday Feb. 15, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. at the Carney Evangelical Free Church. Rev. Gary Page will officiate. A luncheon will follow.

In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established in Barb's name for the Hermansville Rescue Squad and Meyer Township Fire Department.
