KINGMAN, Ariz. - Greta Elizabeth Hews, 90, of Kingman, Ariz., passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, in Kingman, Ariz.
She was born April 28, 1918, in Trenary, and was the daughter of Edward and Rae (Walkup) Hews. Greta graduated from Trenary High School in 1936.
Greta was employed as the housekeeper for Gov. G. Mennen Williams family (governor of the state of Michigan) and later for Fr. Joseph E. Weiber (Roman Catholic priest). She also was employed as a bank teller in the banking industry until her retirement in 1982.
Greta was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kingman, Ariz., a member of the Legion of Mary and St. Mary Belles, the Ladies Aid at church and enjoyed traveling.
Greta Elizabeth Hews is survived by: her sister, Darrell (Robert) Oberg of Rapid River; special friend, Loretta "Lee" Kloasterman of Kingman, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Clare Harmon and Ione Columb, and brother Samuel Hews.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Greta Elizabeth Hews will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Jacek Wtyklo from St. Charles Catholic Church in Rapid River officiating.
Burial will take place next to her parents in the Trenary Cemetery.
