ESCANABA - Bay de Noc Choral Society will present its annual Christmas concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba. This season's concert is entitled "Christmas Around the World: A Concert of Christmas Music from Many Lands." The Choral Society will perform music from Africa, several European countries, Korea and the United States. Featured soloists include Loretta Albert, Tom Brayak, Autumn Conroy, Brecken Gries, Rob Johnson, Patty Kobasic, Joy Moran, Harold Olson, Amber-Dawn Plush, Corinne Schnurer and Kathy Young. The public is invited. A free will offering will be accepted to defray Choral Society operating expenses.

The Choral Society will be joined by First Bells of First Presbyterian church for "A German Christmas." First Bells will also perform several solo selections. A brass quartet - Brian Wood and Dave Nordin, trumpets and Phil Lynch and Mary Bastian, trombones - will accompany "Rejoice! Rejoice, Believers!" Oboist Tory Wood will perform the French carol "He Is Born" with the group, and the concert will also include a Christmas hoedown, "Christmas in the Straw," featuring David Shann on violin.

The Choral Society is a volunteer SATB choir under the direction of Ann Wood with accompanist Jocelyn Povich. New members are welcome to join before the spring concert. Rehearsals will begin in January with dates to be announced. No auditions are necessary.
