GLADSTONE - Leslie and Ada Ruohomaki celebrated 50 years of marriage Oct. 25 during an anniversary dinner in their honor at the Terrace Bay Inn. The couple's four children hosted the dinner.
In attendance at the anniversary celebration were the matron of honor, Judy Boyle of Marquette, sister-in-law of the bride, and Steven Ruohomaki of Chicago, brother of the groom whom attended the 1958 nuptials.
Leslie was employed by the Michigan Department of Social Services for 26 years before retiring in 1997. She served on the Gladstone City Commission for 15 years, seven of those as Mayor. Leslie was elected to the Delta County Board of Commissioners in 2004, where he continues to serve today. Leslie is also a lifetime member of the Elks Club.

Ada has been a homemaker for her family, working part-time at various companies including Christian Park Nursing Home during her children's college years. Both Leslie and Ada have been members of the All Saints Church in Gladstone since 1973.
Leslie and Ada have four children - Ronald Ruohomaki of Escanaba, Gary Ruohomaki of Green Bay, Maria Thomma of Escanaba, and Julie and Donald Moberg of Escanaba. In addition, the couple has seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
