Iverson takes sixth in ASA season

WEST SALEM, Wis. - Dan Fredrickson won his second consecutive Oktoberfest 100 feature race Saturday to secure the ASAMT championship.

It was Fredrickson's third feature win of the season. He won the season championship by 102 points, with Donny Reuvers second.

Jamie Iverson of Escanaba was 25th in the Oktoberfest and finished sixth overall, 292 points behind Fredrickson.


Braves JVs win

GLADSTONE - Jared Stenson ran for 205 yards and scored four touchdowns Friday to help the Gladstone jayvees beat Alpena 38-8.

Andy Kotowski and Gunnar Madden also scored TDs for the Braves. Brad Deno, Peyton Jurek and Jason Thompson led the defense.


Bayside soccer wins

IRON MOUNTAIN - The Bayside soccer team surged to a 5-1 triumph against Iron Mountain here Saturday. Kyle Paquin and Matt Cseter each tallied two goals and Nick Weinert scored one for Bayside (10-0-1).


Youth hockey

ESCANABA - The Escanaba Midget Hockey team lost 3-1 and 4-2 to Marquette Bonanza here Saturday.

Josh Miller scored with an assist from Mark Bruce in game one and Miller scored again in game two with help from Alex Harvala and Justin Weinert. Brent Kallio scored the other Escanaba goal with an assist from Troy Rodman. Alex Wyckoff was between the pipes for Esky in the two games.
