Daily Press looking for historical photos
ESCANABA - The Daily Press will celebrate 100 years in 2009. To commemorate this special occasion, the newspaper will publish old photographs from any time period spanning its existence.

Genealogy Society to meet at Civic Center
ESCANABA - The Delta County Genealogy Society is scheduled to meet at 7 tonight in room 121 of the Civic Center.
The group will discuss the genealogical research sources on Delta County. Members are encouraged to bring a a favorite Web site and other helpful resources used in research in Delta County and also other counties, states and countries.
Annual dues ar $7 per person or $10 per couple. Dues may be mailed to the Delta County Genealogy Society, P.O. Box 442, Escanaba, MI 49829. Membership is not required for attendance; all members are encouraged to attend.

Gladstone Legion breakfast Sunday
GLADSTONE - The community is invited to join the Gladstone Legion Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for an all-you-can-eat breakfast.
Menu items include scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, toast, juice, and coffee. Cost is $6 per adult; $3 for children under 10 years old.

VFW Auxiliary bingo hosted each Wednesday
ESCANABA - VFW Auxiliary bingo takes place each Wednesday at VFW Post 2998, 904 Sheridan Road, Escanaba. Earlybird bingo begins at 6:45 p.m. with regular bingo to follow. Charity game tickets machine and chair lift are available.

Yoga classes begin at Bonifas Arts Center
ESCANABA - A yoga class will begin 6 p.m. at the Bonifas Arts Center Wednesday, Sept. 24, and end Oct. 15.
American Yoga Institute trained Heidi Londo will lead students through poses based on Sun Salutations. The class is recommended for students at all levels.
Sign up for the four-week session. Walk-ins are also welcome, at $8 per class for members and $10 for non-members. Bring a belt or tie and a yoga mat.

Elders meeting slated for Thursday
ESCANABA - The monthly meeting of the Escanaba Sault Ste. Marie Tribe Elders is scheduled for Thursday, at 5:30 p.m. for a catered meal. The meal will be followed by the meeting in the Gathering Room at the Escanaba Tribal Center in the Willow Creek Professional Building, 3500 Ludington Street, Escanaba.

Senior Walkers to begin walking inside
ESCANABA - The Senior Walkers will change from walking outdoors to indoors in the Escanaba Civic Center gym. This class will begin Sept. 25 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fitness activities will also be included. For more information, call the Escanaba Senior Center at 786-8850.

Holiday art fair set for November
ESCANABA - Applications are still open for booths at the Bonifas Arts Center's Holiday Arts Fair, slated for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1.
A sale of Christmas cookies will again accompany the art items for sale, Cox added.
Applications for those interested in selling in the Holiday Arts Fair are available at the Center. For more details, call Cox at 786-3833 ext. 16.
