POWERS - Benny and Dorothy (Webber) O'Neil, Powers, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 9 with a special mass at St. John Neumann Church, Powers, where they presented the gifts to the altar and were also given a special blessing by Fr. Mike Vichich. Following mass, a reception and dance was held at the Sportman's Club, in Hermansville. It was hosted by the couple's children and was celebrated with family and friends. Featured was the couples actual wedding video from 1958.
In attendance were Betty (Webber) Fiedorowicz, sister of the bride, as maid of honor, and Kenny O'Neil, brother of the groom, as best man. Other groomsmen attending included Donald O'Neil, brother of the groom, and Bill Gifford, cousin of the groom. Members of the wedding party were the late Dolores O'Neil, sister-in-law of the groom, and the late Rita Dirkman, cousin of the bride. Flower girl was Linda (Davis) Kossel, niece of the bride.
The couple was married Aug. 9, 1958, at St. Bruno's Church, Nadeau. The ceremony was officiated by Fr. Walter Franczek.

Benny and Dorothy are the parents of four children - Rick (Ruth) O'Neil of Powers, Peggy (Doug) Hahn of Escanaba, Patti (Brian) Whitens of Hermansville, and Lori (Rod) Wells of Gladstone. The couple also has four grandchildren - Jordan and Jason Whitens and Whitney and Tyler Wells.
Benny is retired from BACCO Construction Co., where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for 42 years. Dorothy retired from the North Central Area Scools after 29 years as an aide/librarian.
Benny and Dorothy enjoy spending time at their camp with family and friends. They also enjoy four wheeling, hunting, watching Packers games, attending their grandchildren's sporting events and spending time in Florida.
