Voter registration drive slated at Bay College

ESCANABA - Bay College will conduct a Voter Registration Drive and Political Campaign Fair as part of its annual Constitution Day activities. The event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Caf/ Bay on the main campus from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Escanaba City Clerk Robert Richards will be available to register first-time voters, or to answer questions and confirm voter registration for all voters. Residents may apply for an absentee ballot, or see a demonstration of the Accu-Vote voting machines.

Members of the Delta County Democratic Party and the Delta County Republican Party will have election information available. Individual candidate campaigns will also have information available on U.S. Congress candidates Bart Stupak and Tom Casperson, as well as information on presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama.

Voters can also meet with the candidates for State House 108 District, Mike Falcon and Judy Nerat, who are both planning to attend the event. Non-partisan information will also be available from the Delta County League of Women Voters, including information on statewide ballot proposals 08-1: Medical Marijuana and 08-2: Stem Cell Research.

A bake sale to support the Bay College Model United Nations Club students will also be held. The event is free and open to the public.
