Energy forum coming to Escanaba
ESCANABA - There's still time to register for the free energy efficiency forums DTE Energy/MichCon is conducting next week in the Upper Peninsula. The forums, which will help homes and businesses learn how to save money on their energy bills, will take place Monday in Escanaba and Tuesday in Sault Ste. Marie.
"Natural gas prices have risen significantly since last year, and that's going to translate into higher heating bills this winter," said Bob Fegan, energy efficiency specialist for MichCon. "These forums will provide simple, practical information that will help individuals and companies learn how to conserve energy, and better manage their utility bills."
The forums will offer tips on how residents and businesses can reduce their energy usage; information on energy efficiency rebates available from DTE Energy; and, information on local, state and federal resources that provide energy assistance. Vendors of energy efficient products also will be on hand to talk about what's new in their respective industries, and all attendees will receive a free gift and be eligible to win energy efficient products.
Monday's energy efficiency forum will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, 202 S. 11th St., Escanaba. Tuesday's forum will be held at St. Joseph Parish, 606 E. 4th Ave. in Sault Ste. Marie. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and both forums will start at 7 p.m.
