GLADSTONE - Lawrence and Irene Obenauf, Gladstone, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Aug. 2.

In 1958, Lawrence Obenauf of Mundelein, Ill., married the former Irene Maki of Chatham during a private ceremony in Marquette. The newlyweds settled in Illinois, where they spent their earliest years together. The couple then moved to Chatham and began the dairy farm they operated for over 30 years.

Lawrence and Irene are well known for their hard work and lifelong dedication to family, son William and daughter Lorene (Ken), whom the couple continues to cherish above all else in life.

After having retired from dairy farming, the Obenaufs moved to Gladstone and began a new adventure together - taking sight-seeing bus tours around the country. To date, they have traveled to 48 states, yet the fondest memories of their shared life remain those of their days on the farm with the children, and of family getaways to Obie's Place on Mirror Lake.

Lawrence and Irene are members of First Lutheran Church of Gladstone.

The Obenaufs celebrated their golden anniversary with their children and son-in-law.
